Pey Dalid is an eclectic fusion of sound and story. Our live performance is an uplifting experience of musical styles, popular genres and “One World Music”.
Armed with catchy melodies and thought provoking lyrics the brothers of Pey Dalid, Mordechai, Shlomo and Pesach Walker, have been performing across the world for the last 20 years, spreading the message of unity and peace through their sweet harmonies and lively music.
In the formative years the Brother’s gigged non-stop, influenced by a home filled with the classic standards of legends such as, Ella Fitzgerald and Miles Davis. The Brother’s learned of music’s power to bring cultural harmony at the knee of their father, a highly respected booking agent in the world of entertainment. As the Brother’s grew as musicians their love of hip hop, rock, reggae and the fiercely energetic mosh pits of their youth created an influential and inspirational Pey Dalid sound, which has been heard throughout the world. Soul Music
Soul music, a genre rooted in the African American experience, emerged in the 1950s and 1960s, blending elements of gospel, rhythm and blues, and jazz. Known for its emotional depth and powerful vocal delivery, soul music conveys the raw, unfiltered expression of human experiences—love, pain, joy, and heartache. The genre is characterized by its emphasis on strong vocals, impassioned delivery, and intricate instrumental arrangements, often featuring horns, bass, and piano.
Iconic artists like Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, and James Brown have shaped soul music, each contributing their unique sound and style. Aretha Franklin, the “Queen of Soul,” brought gospel fervor to her secular recordings, while Marvin Gaye’s smooth, socially conscious lyrics provided commentary on the turbulent times. James Brown, the “Godfather of Soul,” infused his performances with energetic showmanship and funk rhythms.
Soul music’s influence extends beyond its golden era, impacting various genres such as rock, hip-hop, and modern R&B. Its legacy continues through contemporary artists who draw inspiration from its rich history, ensuring that the soulful sound of heartfelt expression remains timeless and universally resonant.
